OFFICIAL RULES
The following are the official rules for the REV it UP! Service Technician Vehicle Inspection Contest sponsored by MPi, Inc. ("Sponsor"). All participating dealerships ("Entrants") agree to be bound by the Official Rules. The Contest is void where any aspect of the Contest is prohibited by law or where registration, bonding or translation is required.
1. How to Enter
To enter the Contest, each Entrant who is otherwise eligible under these Official Rules must register and pay the $295 registration fee any time between 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern time on August 1st, 2011 and 11:59:59 pm Eastern time on September 17th, 2011 (the "Entry Deadline") by registering online at www.revituponedge.com or by calling Contest HQ at (800) 997-1674 x2121.
2. Entry Restrictions
Limit one registration per dealership rooftop. By entering this Contest, Entrants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor and Sponsor's selection panel, which are binding and final in all matters relating to this Contest.
3. Eligibility
Each Entrant must be an individual who is a legal resident at least the age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence as of the date of entry and represents a participating dealership. The Contest is void in any other jurisdiction where prohibited or restricted by law. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, shall determine the eligibility of Entrants and the date of entry.
Any dealership (including but not limited to any officers, directors, partners, employees, consultants, independent contractors, interns, agents or affiliates of such dealership) who has, within six months prior to the start date of the Contest, performed services for Sponsor, and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household, are not eligible to enter or win. By entering, Contestants agree to indemnify, defend, release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsor, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, advertising and promotional agencies and prize suppliers and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives ("Released Parties") from any and all claims, liability, including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, including but not limited to death or personal injury arising out of a Contestant's participation in the Contest and/or acceptance or use or misuse of prize.
By entering this Contest and accepting prize, winner grants permission to Sponsor to use his/her name, photograph, likeness, voice, prize information and/or biographical information (city, state and country only) for Sponsor's programming, publicity and promotional purposes without further compensation, review or approval unless prohibited by law. All applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
4. Selection
Selection will be based on the following criteria: the winners of each and every race will be based on the accuracy of the actual vehicle inspection, the quality of how the data was entered into EDGE™ and in case of ties, which technician performed the fastest World Class Inspection™. Winners will be chosen by their Service Manager in Race I and by Sponsor Race Officials in Races II through IV.
No single objective measure will be used in determining a winner in each race. Ultimately, after weighing all of the above criteria, the winner of each race is determined by the judge(s) based on whom they felt did the best overall vehicle inspection(s).
Race I "Dealership Qualifier"
After a dealership registers, a REV it UP! Vehicle Inspection Workshop kit will be emailed to the attention of the Service Manager. In the email will be the contest rules, contest setup instructions, a contest time sheet and an Inspection Consistency Results spreadsheet used to tabulate the inspection results. .The Service Manager will select a vehicle that has at least 50,000 miles, has not been recently serviced, and is likely in need of maintenance or repair after a thorough vehicle inspection.
A special training RO for this vehicle needs to be created in EDGE for each technician in your shop (they will not affect your shop reports or DMS system and can be removed after the contest). This special RO will also have a unique number associated with it so that the technician's name need not appear on the inspection when it is reviewed later in the contest.
Your standard EDGE™ multipoint inspection should be added to these ROs.
The Service Manager or a designee will use a stop watch or a wrist watch with a second hand to time each technician while the tech completes the vehicle inspection, noting their time on the provided form. The maximum allotted time for a RACE I inspection should be no longer than 20 minutes. Have them identify each pass, caution and failed items using the WCI definitions found below. The entering of information into EDGE is not timed. No other competing technicians may observe as they will each have a turn in this stage. Have them identify each pass, caution and failed items using the WCI definitions found below.
- a) Fail = Items that are broken or no longer functioning as designed, wear item that has worn below spec, etc or a safety issue.
- b) Caution = Items that are showing signs of wear, slightly dirty, etc. but are still doing their job as designed.
Each technician will record their inspection findings into EDGE™ to the best of their ability, each printing out a copy of the Recommended Action Plan (RAP Report) and presenting it to their Service Manager. Repeat this step until all technicians have completed their inspection. The Service Manager will enter each tech's result into the Inspection Consistency Results spreadsheet and tabulate the results.
The printed versions of the RAP Report should then be passed back to the technicians and the Service Manager then goes over to the inspected vehicle with the technicians and they review each task where everyone didn't come to the same conclusion. We recommend inspecting the specific component(s) on the vehicle in groups of 15 or less but in all cases the manager should be leading the follow up workshop until everyone has reached consensus using the WCI definitions stated above. If consensus cannot be reached among the technicians, the Service Manager has the final say.
The winner of Race I is based on the accuracy of the actual vehicle inspection, the quality of how the data was entered into EDGE™ and in case of ties, which technician performed the fastest World Class Inspection™! The Service Manager should then congratulate the contestants and announce the winning technician's name. The Service Manager must submit the winning tech's name via email to revitup@mpi-edge.com no later than EOD on October 31st, 2011 so they can claim their award and move on to Race II.
Race II "District Qualifier"
- 1) The winning technicians from Race I will attend district vehicle inspection competitions at host EDGE dealers in their respective geographical areas as determined by MPi. It is the responsibility of the technician to get themselves to the designated location on the right date at the right time. There will be no makeup sessions available although a tech could attend a race in a different district if necessary.
- 2) The Service Manager in the host dealership will make available a service bay and a neutral vehicle with over 50,000 miles for a four (4) hour period on their designated race date. For fairness sake, the vehicle must represent a make and model other than those sold by the host dealership and the contestant's dealerships. MPi will inform the host of all the brands participating.
- 3) After all technicians have arrived and have had a few minutes to get some refreshments; the designated Race Official (MPi provided judge) will explain the rules of this round of competition. A special training RO for both vehicles will be created in EDGE for each technician competing in your shop. These special ROs will also have a unique number associated with them so that the technician's name need not appear on the inspection when it is reviewed later in the contest. The Race Official will randomly select the technicians order to inspect the car allowing up to a maximum of 20 minutes per inspection. The technicians will enter their results into EDGE™ and print out their RAP reports. A unique EDGE™ multipoint inspection will be added to these ROs remotely from HQ.
